F-Zero fans won't be happy about this one as the F-Zero franchise is tossed aside in favour of more annual injections from the ever so popular Mario Kart series. Shigeru Miyamoto informed IGN of the disappointing news as quoted by the man himself.
"I certainly understand that people want a new F-Zero game," Miyamoto said. "I think where I struggle is that I don’t really have a good idea for what’s new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again. Certainly I can see how people looking at Mario Kart 8 could see, through the anti-gravity, a connection to F-Zero. But I don’t know, at this point, what direction we could go in with a new F-Zero."No doubt favouritism played a huge factor in this taken direction and of course what this means is we won't be seeing Captain Falcon anytime soon. Funnily enough Miyamoto's excuse is debatable in every sense especially when looking in Mario Kart and Zelda's direction.
As for changes? No real change needed to be implemented, just an addictive Online Mode experience, new tracks, solid HD graphics and voila you have a system seller on your hands. Sega could handle F-zero if Nintendo's schedule was packed, it's a no brainer.
Unfortunately Nintendo's big dog doesn't see things as clearly. All fans want is an HD revamp of the futuristic racer but with Captain Falcon forever in Mario's tall shadow, it's not happening. You could say R.I.P F-Zero for now..
